Meet Our Team

Carmen VanAlstine
Carmen VanAlstine, M.A., holds a Master's degree in French from Michigan State University. During her studies, Carmen spent a semester studying in Angers, France, where she immersed herself in the language and culture living with a French family.
In addition to her 20 years of experience teaching French at the middle and high school levels, Carmen has provided private and small-group instruction for adult learners for years. She also organized and led a student exchange program to France, where she served as an interpreter.
Carmen is married to Tom and has two children: her son lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and her daughter works and resides in Paris, France. Thanks to her daughter's relocation and trips to visit her, Carmen has the opportunity to practice the language and stay "au courant" with evolving French culture.
